This is a poem from the NBA player Kobe Bryant. This poem is also a short film he made for his retirement from basketball. He retired from the NBA on November 29, 2015. He published this poem/film to announce his retirement. I relate to this poem a lot cause when I first started playing basketball I loved it right away. Anytime I saw a basketball or was on a basketball court I could just stay there for hours. Even when I don’t have a basketball I would find household objects to act as a basket and ball for me. For Kobe slowly his body couldn’t handle the stress anymore but his mind and heart will always love the game. It goes for anyone saying that even when your body can’t push through the pain anymore that it’s ok to let go, cause you can still love and be passionate for the game without playing it. I loved Kobe Bryant when I was younger and watching him play ball, when I heard he was retiring I got sad but then I saw his poem and realised that this will happen to everyone. That when an old love gets to hard on your body to full-fill, you can find a new love. Basketball will always be with Kobe by after he retired he had his kids basketball games to go to and teach them so it never left him. The narrator in the poem and film is Kobe Bryant.
This is the short film that Kobe sent to retire from basketball. Kobe Bryant won 5 NBA championship with 2 of those him being finals MVP. He also won multiple other awards like NBA season MVP, 18x NBA all star, 11x All-NBA first team, 4x NBA all-star MVP, etc.
