This work of art is by Pierre Alechinsky made in 1967. He calls this piece “Gong”. When I was looking for a painting to pick for this assignment, this one stuck out to me with the vibrant color of bright blue it possesses. This painting acts like the sea as waves go by in the ocean, there are not all straight lines, and waves are moving wherever the wind takes them. My favorite color is blue so when I saw it I knew right away that I wanted to choose this painting. While you’re looking at the painting you can tell that in some areas the light is shining on it and it’s not expressing that life isn’t always what you want it to be and since it can come with the bad times as well. When I kept looking at it I noticed that there are no straight lines and everything on the image is in motion just like I usually am since I can’t sit down for very long without having to do something. The good areas are the bright areas which are the alive ones that people want you to see, that’s because the bad areas are the dark ones that people don’t want you to see. No one’s perfect but they can act like they are by blocking off their bad areas and shining a light on their good ones. That goes for me as well cause I can act like everything is going just fine and act like nothing is happening when on the contrary a lot is happening that I need to address. As I said before there are no straight-line shapes, there are no squares, triangles, rectangles, etc. to show how life is always moving and always on the go even if you wanted it to just stop. Sooner or later in life, we are all gonna see that it if it’s either the light areas or dark ones that we should be who we are no matter what and shine all of our areas for the world to see.
